What Impressionist does with a house. A house with a garden, a porch under trees, a view with water — the sky and the foliage are painted in small strokes and the building sits in it. Less suited to hard, modern architecture.
The photo. Morning or late afternoon with the sun behind you, straight-on or from a front corner, no cars in the drive. Include a little sky and a little ground.
The size. 24×36 turned on its side (36×24) over a sideboard or a bed; 32×48 for a tall wall or a stairwell.
