Privacy

We collect three things: what you give us (email address, photo, shipping address), what Shopify collects on our behalf at checkout (we never see your card number), and the campaign parameters and an anonymous visitor id that let us tell which ad an order came from.

If you're a real estate agent and enter your California DRE license number on our agents page, we look it up on the DRE's public license search and keep the number with your order, along with the name, license status and brokerage listed there, so we can confirm your free painting.

We also use Google Analytics to count visits and see which steps of the site work and which don't. They get pages viewed and buttons pressed, never your photo or your painting. Google Analytics is linked to our Google Ads account so we can see which Google ads lead to visits and orders; it isn't used to choose who sees our ads.

When we run ads, Meta, Pinterest and Google Ads tags on this site and at checkout record visits and steps like adding to cart or placing an order, so we can tell which ads work and show our ads to people who visited. When you type your email into a form here, or your contact details at checkout, they may also receive a hashed (scrambled) copy so they can match the visit to their own users. They never get your photo or your painting. You can opt out on our privacy choices page (it covers checkout too), and we honor Global Privacy Control automatically.

Our checkout runs on Shopify. Shopify also processes data from your visit and purchase under its own Consumer Privacy Policy, including to provide services based on your activity with other Shopify stores. In states with opt-out laws, Shopify honors the Global Privacy Control signal at checkout too.

Your photo is used to make your artwork. It is never used to train a model, never sold, and never used for another customer's piece. Originals and intermediate files are deleted 30 days after delivery. We keep the finished print file for 12 months so we can reprint if something goes wrong; ask and we'll delete that too.

To render your painting we send the photo to our AI rendering providers. The workshop that prints, textures and ships your canvas receives the print file, your order number, and the name, shipping address and phone number on your order, so the carrier can deliver it — not your original photo or your email address.

California residents can ask to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold, and we will not treat you differently for asking. Write to hello@afrodie.com.

On biometrics: we do not run face recognition and do not build or store faceprints. Face position is used only to decide where to crop, and is not retained.
