Is it hand-painted?
No. The painting is made digitally from your photo and printed on canvas, then its brushstrokes are raised by machine, so you can see and feel them. A person reviews every proof against your photo before it prints. We say this plainly because the alternative — implying a human held a brush — would be a lie you'd find out about when it arrived.
Does AI make it?
AI does the first pass, the way a studio assistant would block in a canvas. Then a person checks likeness and fixes what's off, and nothing prints until you've had the full-resolution proof for 24 hours to ask for changes.
What photo works best?
Daylight, eyes visible, taken at their eye level rather than from above, and close enough that the face fills a good part of the frame. A phone photo is plenty. Blurry, very dark, or very distant photos can still work at small sizes but not at 32×48 — we'll tell you before you pay.
Can you put two pets in one painting?
Yes. Either upload one photo with both, or send two photos and tell us to combine them — we'll place them in the same scene at the right relative size.
How big should I go?
Above a sofa, 24×36" is the size we recommend; 16×24" reads as small there but is right for a hallway or above a dresser. The studio shows your painting on a wall at true scale so you can judge it rather than guess.
What if it doesn't look like them?
You see it before you pay, so you decide with the painting in front of you. After you order you get it full size, with 24 hours to ask for changes — we repaint it until it's right, and the clock waits while we do — or to cancel for a full refund. If the canvas arrives damaged or doesn't match the painting you saw, we remake it free, and you don't send it back.
What is it printed on, and how does it hang?
Fade-resistant canvas with the brushstrokes raised so you can feel them, stretched over ¾-inch wood bars with the painting wrapped around the edges. Every canvas arrives with hanging hardware on the back, ready to hang — no frame needed.
Can I choose how raised the brushstrokes are?
Yes. Bold is our standard: thick, raised strokes that catch the light. Subtle keeps the strokes lower, for a smoother surface, and costs a little less. You choose in the studio before you check out.
How long does it take?
The free preview takes seconds. After you order, the full-resolution proof reaches your inbox within minutes; you have 24 hours to ask for changes. Then printing starts, and your canvas arrives within 11–15 business days, shipped free and tracked within the contiguous US.
What happens to my photo?
It's used to make your painting and nothing else. It is never used to train a model and never sold. We delete originals 30 days after delivery. See the photo policy for details.
