Good to know.

If something here isn't clear, write to hello@afrodie.com and a person will answer.

Is it hand-painted?

No. We paint digitally and print the result on cotton canvas with layered UV ink, which stands up off the surface so you can feel the brushwork. A person reviews every proof before it prints. We say this plainly because the alternative — implying a human held a brush — would be a lie you'd find out about when it arrived.

Does AI make it?

AI does the first pass, the way a studio assistant would block in a canvas. Then a person checks likeness, fixes what's off, and only after you approve the proof does anything get printed.

What photo works best?

Daylight, eyes visible, taken at their eye level rather than from above, and close enough that the face fills a good part of the frame. A phone photo is plenty. Blurry, very dark, or very distant photos can still work at small sizes but not at 36×48 — we'll tell you before you pay.

Can you put two pets in one painting?

Yes. Either upload one photo with both, or send two photos and tell us to combine them — we'll place them in the same scene at the right relative size.

How big should I go?

Above a sofa, 24×36" is the size most people are happy with; 16×20" reads as small there but is right for a hallway or beside a bookshelf. The studio shows your painting on a wall at true scale so you can judge it rather than guess.

What if it doesn't look like them?

Tell us what's off and we re-do it free. That's before printing, at the proof stage, and after delivery too — for custom work we don't ask for the piece back.

How long does it take?

The free preview is seconds. After you order, the full-resolution proof reaches you within about a day, and once you approve it the painting is printed, framed and shipped in 7–10 business days.

What happens to my photo?

It's used to make your painting and nothing else. It is never used to train a model and never sold. We delete originals 30 days after delivery. See the photo policy for details.
