Afrodie turns a photograph into an oil-painting-style portrait and prints it as raised brushstrokes on canvas, made to order in the United States, from $69, in 7–10 business days after you approve the proof.
- Upload one photo. Drop a photo at afrodie.com/create — no account, no payment. Daylight and eyes visible is all it takes; a phone photo is plenty. The original is used only to make your painting and is deleted 30 days after delivery.
- See it painted, free, in seconds. A watermarked preview appears in about fifteen seconds. Leave an email to unlock five more looks — from a classical heirloom oil to a palette-knife impasto — and three free adjustments: background, tone, or taking something out.
- Choose the size and framing. The studio shows your painting on a wall at true scale, from 8×10 up to 36×48 inches, gallery-wrapped or floated in a black, oak or antique-gold frame. Checkout is handled by Shopify with Shop Pay, Apple Pay and PayPal.
- Approve the proof. Within about a day you receive a full-resolution proof by email. A person has already checked the likeness. Nothing prints until you approve it, and changes are free — as many rounds as it takes.
- Printed as raised paint, shipped in 7–10 days. The brushwork is printed on cotton canvas with layered UV ink so it physically stands off the surface. Made to order in the United States, shipped tracked and insured, free within the contiguous US.
Is a person involved? Yes, at the point that matters. Software paints the first pass, the way a studio assistant blocks in a canvas; a person checks every proof for likeness and fixes what is off; you approve before anything prints. We don't call it hand-painted, because it isn't.
